Mission Statement:

The mission of the Warren County Fire Academy is to provide the highest level of Fire, Rescue, and Hazardous Materials Training and Certification programs to emergency service responders and private industry emergency response teams in Warren County and the region. This training will be provided through an ongoing program of curriculum development and delivery, which meets NJ Division of Fire Safety and the National Fire Protection Association standards and accreditation criteria. Courses and skill exercises are designed to replicate real emergencies necessary to insure a  efficient, effective and thoughtful emergency response organization.

Vision Statement:

Our vision is to provide a premier Fire/Rescue/HAZMAT training facility within the State of New Jersey.  Through leadership, integrity and discipline, those trained at our facility will become leaders in the field of emergency services.

Philosophy:

Warren County is blessed to be served by 100% volunteer fire and emergency first aid service, saving county taxpayers significant dollars in taxes.  The volunteers invest their time and effort to provide the best possible service to our citizens.  These men and women stand on the front lines and sacrifice on a daily basis to provide this service.  It is incumbent on our Warren County Fire Academy to support our volunteers on the front lines and provide the best and most effective training available.

We recognize that the minimum training is not good enough for our volunteers and the citizens they serve.  In the 1970’s a county resident donated land the Fire Academy occupies to the County Fireman’s Association for an emergency services training center.  It was meant as a gesture to provide better training for those charged to protect the citizens.  It is our endeavor at the Academy to live up to that gesture.  The Academy plants the seeds of improvement, plants the seeds of change, and plants the seeds of greatness when recruits and emergency service members come here to train.

Over the past few years the Fire Academy has been taking steps to re-invest and increase our ability to provide a better service to our volunteers.  A few of these steps are listed below.

  1. Increased focus on instructor development to insure our teaching methods are modern and meet the needs of our students.
  2. Develop lesson plans to provide a more efficient learning environment based on a scenario based system that gives the learners an opportunity to learn and develop skills that will be needed on an emergency scene.
  3. Develop a blended learning system where the Academy uses classroom, online technologies, and skills based training to provide learners with the best opportunity to learn and develop their skills.  This gives modern training and allows our volunteers enhanced flexibility to learn around their work schedule.
  4. Develop a stronger working relationship with our county fire department officers to provide training programs better catered to the needs of our departments.

Our goal is not to just produce a certified firefighter.  We strive to challenge our students to become future fire service leaders.  To become leaders that will move the fire service ahead with sound practices and and sound thinking that carry on our finest fire service traditions while meeting the ever changing needs of the public we serve.
